He has been in practice for 20 years and is experienced in many areas of women's health care. His training at one of the busiest training hospitals in the country has helped him manage all types of high-risk pregnancy conditions including hypertension, diabetes, twin pregnancy, VBAC’s, and many other high-risk conditions.
He also prides himself in providing the most up to date treatment of gynecological problems.He has served on the medical board of Hologic helping improve and develop the latest Novasure device to treat heavy menstrual cycles and has taught many other OB-GYNs in the area how to perform this in-office ablation procedure. He also is very experienced performing all types of hysterectomies depending on the need of his patients.
Dr. Shimer earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame. He then went on to attend Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he earned his medical degree and gave the graduation speech to his class as Class President. He completed his residency training at Baylor as well and was Chief Resident his last year. Following his residency, Dr. Shimer was in private practice in North Carolina as well as a clinical instructor at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill before relocating to Dallas in 2000 and starting Craig Ranch OB-GYN. He lives in Frisco with his wife Becca and 4 children. He enjoys golf, travel, and spends much of his time coaching his kids in their various sports. Dr. Shea Joyner is a board certified OB/GYN at Craig Ranch OB/GYN in McKinney, Texas, serving patients in the greater Dallas area. Dr. Joyner was born and raised in Texas. She is a graduate of Plano Senior High School. Laura grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma before moving to Texas in 2002. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2006. As her passion for women's health care and obstetrics grew she decided to return to Baylor to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Nurse-Midwifery. Laura works with women at all stages of life and believes that healthcare should be a partnership between client and provider in order to attend to every woman's unique health needs. She believes in supporting choice during pregnancy and childbirth and places an emphasis on patient education.
Outside of work, Laura appreciates spending time with her family. She also owns horses and enjoys riding, sometimes taking them to compete.
Robin is a native Texan, but lived in Uruguay for over 11 years where she became fluent in Spanish. Prior to receiving her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Midwifery at Baylor University, she had worked as a Labor & Delivery nurse and a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. Robin earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Oklahoma Baptist University and earned her Masters of Science for Women’s Healthcare Nurse becoming a nurse practitioner in 2003.
